On May 17th, we officially went on the wait list for a baby girl from Ethiopia. We are open to a 0-2 year old, so since most people are waiting for an infant, my guess is that we will get a little girl older than a year old. So, my next guess is that she is already born, and her family is making the toughest decision of their lives. We don't know her story yet, but we pray that whatever situation she may be in right now, that she has a special angel watching over her and protecting her. We pray that she may be protected and loved. Our faith always grows during this time of waiting because we are fully relying on the Lord to take care of our little girl. I am a protective mommy, and to know that we have a child in another country that may be in danger or might be hungry is heartbreaking! But the Lord loves her even more than I do, and His ways are better than my own!
Isaiah 55:8-9 "My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways, says the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts.”
This makes me think... I am protective of "my own" but God calls us to take care of "the least of these" everywhere. We get a lot of questions and judgements as adoptive parents. "Shouldn't you make sure you can pay for all of your kids college education before you spend more money on adoption and bring more kids into your home?" "Why don't you take care of the kids here in the US instead of adopting overseas?" Basically the statement is... "Take care of your own." While my head and logic gets this, my heart is wondering, "What does God call us to do?" Does the Bible say, "Take care of just your own." "My own" with the exception of baby Gia, are quite comfortable. They get three meals and snacks, a warm bed, lots of kisses and hugs, daily prayers, and TONS of extended family spoiling! They live the life that very few kids lead. You see, the vast majority of kids in the world will never have 3 meals a day, will never have clean water to drink, and will never have 2 parents to snuggle and love on them. Thankfully God doesn't limit who He takes care of and loves! Thankfully God sees us ALL as His children! We are called to take care of the kids in our backyards, across town, and across the world. There are no limits to where we can help! And, it doesn't have to be financial... time and love go a long way!! I'm just sayin'...... :)

Great news!!!!! I can't wait to "meet" the newest member of the gFamily!
Beautiful post and so perfectly written.
I totally agree with you. Every child needs a loving home regardless of where they are from. There are these things called scholarships, student loans and summer jobs that can help pay for college. That's a silly reason not to adopt, in my opinion. Good for you for listening to your heart! :)
I just love your heart. We need to talk again sometime...I've got so much on my heart right now and I am SO frustrated and confused about what path I am supposed to take.
I believe that Baby G has been hand picked for your awesome family by the Lord. I can't wait to see what mountains he moves to bring her home :)
Love the post, following God's lead is never the wrong direction!
You're right. Seriously, I just got the chills reading this. We must think beyond what is comfortable to us to truly live out God's word. You never cease to amaze me. Even though kids are crazy (as we discussed today), they are precious little gifts that need lots of love, kisses, and 3 meals a day with snacks. :)
Amen, sister! My heart exactly. Can't wait to hear all about your newest love. Will be praying for her safety til God brings her home to you!
