Jedi in the Making

We had a Star Wars Party for Grady's 5th Birthday! We started off with a friend and cousins party at our house that included cake, yoda soda, Star Wars Theme music, and games! The kids had a great time and I think that Grady was truly thrilled!

Grady with his Jedi shirt and Darth Vader Cake!
Make a wish Jedi Grady!
We had Yoda balloons, Darth Vader balloons and other Star Wars decor!
For the first game, the two teams had to place stickers on the ships to earn points.
Grady's buddy, Haley, placing her sticker.
Three wild and crazy Jedi's all wearing their Star Wars shirts!
For the second game, everyone received a light saber(pipe insulation) and a balloon. Every young padawan had to keep their balloon in the air with the light saber! This game was a hit! They all loved it!
For the last activity, the kids took turns showing off their best Light Saber moves! Here is Grady in his 3-D glasses showing his moves!
Really getting into character now!
Watch out buddy! Mom isn't the enemy! :)
After all the kids left, except the cousins, we had all the rest of the family over for pizza, more yoda soda(green punch) and gifts! For this party we had cupcakes. Grady enjoyed one in his favorite color, blue!
Opening presents time!
It wouldn't be a Star Wars Party without a big Star Wars helmet! Thanks Nani and Papa!
Grandma and Grandpa found a blue tractor for Grady! He loves it! You can tell that he is getting tired at the end of the second party here!! :)
I really can't believe that Grady is 5 years old already! We love that he is the life of the party everyday at our house! He has never ending energy! He is the last one to sleep(of the kids) and the first one up in the morning! And sometimes he even gets up in the night just to come in and give me a hug and kiss and tell me that he loves me! He loves to sing praise music and hum Star Wars theme songs loudly, laugh, cuddle, have his back tickled, and talk about what he wants to be when he grows up, which is currently a fireman! He is a sensitive guy and so kind to others! We laugh often because he knows everyone! We often hear, "Hi Grady!" when we go out! He knows everyone at church and school and gets to know everyone at the playground wherever we go! :) I have even caught him at Target just walking up to kids and asking for a "High 5" or asking them their name! He is so friendly that we have to talk often to him about strangers! Here is a conversation that we had with him this summer after spending time at a large park....

Me: Grady, what if a stranger came up to you at the park and asked you to go with them to get some candy in their car?
Grady: I'd say SURE!!!
Me: (Wide eyed)Oh Grady, that is not good because that person could be trying to take you away from your family and hurt you! Now that you know that, what would you say to a stranger who asks you to go with them to help find their dog?
Grady: I'd say, no, I have to go get candy out of my car!
Gerald and I burst out laughing, but we knew we would have to continue this conversation many more times until he truly understood!

I wish I had a nickel for every time someone came up to me and said, "You will never believe what your son said!" or "You will never believe what your son did!"

Last week, we had a family friend stay with us for an evening. He and Gerald took the kids to a store to get some things. While they were out, Grady kept telling Mick, "I need to go potty!" Gerald told him that he should have gone before he left home and he could go in five minutes when they got back home. Well, when Gerald was buckling Gillian into her seat, Grady pulled down his pants at the front of the parking lot and peed in the grass! I think Grady and dad learned an important lesson and our buddy Mick got the best laugh ever!

Oh my, I could go on and on and on and on, but I will end by just saying that Grady is a huge blessing to our family and we thank the Lord that He chose us to be his parents! We love you, Grady Mac!
