Last week, Grant's school had a delay because of ice. But, by midmorning the roads were fine, so we headed out to find a gingerbread house kit. We bought the last one at Target! YAY! After Gillian went down for a nap, the boys and I put together a gingerbread house. I read all the directions 10 times and laid everything out perfectly and told the boys not to touch anything. I carefully put all the icing in all the right places, and Grant helped me put all the pieces together. We then decorated it, and of course I made sure to have the kids vary the colors in each spot so that it would look lovely. After we finished I asked Grant and Grady if they had fun. They said, "Yes, but, mom you were a little crazy with the icing and the colors! But it was fun to decorate the snowman and tree however we wanted!!" Okay, so mental note for next year.... Allow the boys to get messy, sticky, and very creative with however they want to decorate it! It was my first gingerbread house and I wanted it to be wonderful! I learned that it will still be wonderful with however it is decorated! Oh, the kids teach me something everyday!! LOL
