The yearly visit to Santa at the John Deere Store(as my kids call it) is a tradition that we love, even if we don't all believe in the "magic" anymore! Grant may not have been super excited about sitting on Santa's lap, but he is still super excited to go to the John Deere Store. He picked out a belt buckle for Christmas while we were waiting, so the trip was not a complete waste for him. Ha! Grady enjoys EVERYTHING that we do even if big brother Grant ruined the "magic" for him this year. And Gillian, she is just thrilled that there are cookies and candy canes involved.
Grant likes to mess with Santa since the "magic" is no longer real for him. So, this year he asked for a rifle, hunting license, and a 4-wheeler. He just likes to see what Santa will say to his request. Santa just chuckled and said, "I bet you want those things and a few other things." Which really means, you will get a few "other" things! Good job Santa! He is a pro!!!

Grady asked for football gloves because he REALLY wants them. And, then he giggled the Grady giggle. :)

And Gillian didn't cry for the very first time! She was still scared, however, and froze when Santa asked her what she wanted. She answered, "a tractor." I think she said that because we were surrounded by them, and it was all she could think of at that timid moment. So Gerald and I said, "Gilli, tell Santa about the Zhu Zhu pet that you want." So she did manage enough courage to tell him that she wanted a dark pink Zhu Zhu pet.

And today, after Gerald swept the whole floor, we decided to make our gingerbread house! HA! Clean floors are overrated, right?!! We had a great messy time and this OCD mom joined in the fun after skipping out last year. It didn't look like the picture, but as Gerald said, "Ours has more character!" I could say that about our whole family... "We've got character!!" :)

Way to go, OCD mom! I am glad you are taking some steps in a healthy direction - your 12-step program is working? Love that you decided to build a gingerbread house immediately following the "mopping of the floor" ritual. That's surely evil of you. Wah ha ha! Love all the pics, and especially the part about Grant messing with Santa. Your Santa looks so jolly with that red nose. How precious!
You guys are great parents... what fun Christmas traditions!
Soooo cute! This was Bela's first year not crying either, but she gently placed her hand on his belly so that if the old dude tried anything, she could push off and run. LOL! Gillian has the same look Bela has. Too funny!
Oh and so sad that Grant and Grady don't believe in the "magic" anymore, Diego was still a believer this year, but I'm just waiting for next year when the "magic" fades for him too.
