This summer is just flying by and there just isn't much time to blog! We had our first week of actual summer last week where we just didn't have much planned. It was WONDERFUL! The kids and I read book, took naps, played outside, cooked chocolate muffins, built fun things with legos, and sometimes just sat and watched cartoons.
Muffin batter tastes great!
Gillian turned 11 months old two days ago and we can't believe that in less than one month from now, she will be a year old!! WOW! Gillian actually had time to play on the floor and decided to crawl early last week. We are so proud of her!! She doesn't do much exploring yet, but I am sure she will soon! Lucky for us, Aunt Maegen brought some toys that her girls were done with, so Gillian just sits and plays with them! Thank you!!
This weekend got crazy again! The boys spent all day Friday and Saturday with Grandma and Grandpa on the farm! They were crazy busy going to a festival with antique tractors and even got to see an old fashion combine shelling corn. They also went to see fireworks, play on a fun playground, take rides on the gator, and ride bikes that Grandma picked up at rummages this summer! Thank you Grandma and Grandpa!!
This is a classic Allis-Chalmers Tractor like Grandpa had when he was a kid.
While the boys were away, Gerald did projects around the house while I cleaned and played with Gillian. We also treated ourselves to a nice dinner with just one child! Ohhhh, how much easier restaurants are with one child. Yes, she threw food, and whimpered a little, but it is still easier than two little boys burping, throwing straw wrappers, and crawling under the table! Aren't boys fun?
Saturday evening we picked the boys up and met up with two of my high school friends. One of them I hadn't seen in a few years! It was sure different to hang out with these girls with their husbands and children! Our "boy" conversations this time were all about our sons! We did have time for some reminiscing! We talked about the times we snow painted peoples yards and had slumber parties. They both remembered the time we slept in my parent's basement and they spilled a can of pop on new carpet. I went crazy cleaning it up with cleaners and careful blotting while they made fun of me. Gerald laughed and said, "Some things never change!" I guess I am a little over the top, but seriously, who wants stained carpet??
We spent the night at Nani and Papa's house on Saturday night and spent the whole day there Sunday with the entire family celebrating my dad's birthday. We cooked out, swam, had a bonfire, hit golf balls, and took golf cart rides. Gillian was very relaxed in the pool this time because it was SO warm. The boys were all over the pool, showing off their new skills they learned at swim lessons two weeks ago!
Grant learned to free-style and breast stroke swim, but he still just likes to jump around and act like a 5 year old.

Bath time in the sink at Nani's

After this weekend of putting the kids to bed every night at 10 or 11 pm, this momma is ready to have another week of NOTHING!! That is what summer to me is all about... relaxing with no schedules(except nap schedules)!!

The crawling on the wood floor thing is too funny! She'll get over that in no time and you'll be chasing her all over the place!
