Today I had a nice chat with one of my favorite Taylor U. friends, LeAnne. We may not live close, but it is still so nice to catch up and encourage one another! We were talking about the kids and how different things are now in our lives. I told her that last week was a little rough for me as my boys chose to be more aggressive with friends and each than I would like. I know they are boys, but I also want them to be kind to one another. I also told her some of the great things they were doing, but sometimes it is the negative things that always stick out in my mind. She reminded me that in college I kept a journal and every night I would write 5 things that I wanted to praise God for and 5 things I wanted to pray for. She suggested that I get back into that habit and write 5 things about my children that want I want to remember and thank God for and also write 5 things that I am praying for them at this time. It's such a blessing that I talked to her today! I kept that journal in college for 4 years and NEVER skipped a day writing in it! Do you think I can still do it? I hope so! I think it will really help my attitude to stay more positive. Now I will be looking for fun things to write in my journal. This should help me see the little blessings in my life right now! I know there are many!!!

5 Praises and 5 Prayers
Here is a sample of the blessings from today:
5 Praises/Blessings
1. Grady played nicely with Teegan in the sandbox today!
2. Snuggles with Grant, Grady, and Gillian at bedtime! Grant said, "I love you, momma!"
3. Grant and Grady played on the floor with Gillian and made her giggle and get excited!
4. The boys played outside in the beautiful sunshine all afternoon VERY peacefully!
5. Gillian enjoyed her Aunt Heidi very much, which is a nice break for my hip! :)
--Husband Praise: Gerald made homemade pizza and breadsticks while I got my eyebrows waxed off! It was delicious and even better that I didn't have to make it!! :)

I LOVE this idea! I am going to try it. Sometimes it is the simple things that make all the difference. Thanks for posting this :)
I love this idea. . . I've done it with 10 things I am thankful for. What a great idea to do it with our kids, and husband. I so easily get frustrated and obsess about the things that are negative. This will help me see the small moments of joy in the day. I love this post it is so encouraging! I'm starting it tomorrow.
Thanks!
Darcy
