New Date for Amendments

First of all, if you are having a difficult time following me today with all of this new information, go out to 5000orphans.com. It has great info and explains things much better than I can!!

Okay, from what I am reading, it looks like the date when the amendments to the Ortega Law will be voted on has been pushed back to November. The presidential elections will be held Nov. 4th, and the amendments will be voted on after that date. The good news is that we have more time to pray and take action(by ways stated in my last post). The bad news is that we have over a month to think about the unthinkable! Gerald keeps telling me to stay away from the "what ifs" because they haven't happened yet, and we need to stay positive and have faith! He is right, and we need to stay focused on our goal, which is to bring Gillian home. So I am going to list ways that you can pray for the situation:

1. Pray for peace in our hearts and minds.
2. Pray for DNA results to arrive very soon.
3. Pray for a quick PA (pre-approval).
4. Pray for Gillian's foster mother (Gillian will most likely be the last foster child in her house). :(
5. Pray that the grandfather clause passes so that all the Guata babies in process can come home to their families who love them so much!!
6. Pray for those congressmen and congresswomen who are making decisions. Pray that their hearts would be softened to make decisions that are in the best interest of the children.
7. Pray for the media that they would state the facts and not dramatize and sensationalize the situation.
8. Pray for safety and good health for Gillian and all the babies in process.

Thank you so much for praying for us! There are 5000 babies in process and they all need your prayers!!

"This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us - whatever we ask - we know that we have what we asked of him" (1 John 5:14-15).

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:6-7).

"…The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective" (James 5:16).

Gretchen, You don't know me, but I am Jenny's friend. I love to hear about adoption and see all your precious babies. I want you to know we will be praying that little Gillian gets to come home. It seems like you have been having a very positive attitude. It is hard to think that God sees the end result. The track there may be difficult, but God sees the end and he will get you there. No matter what the end is. Hopefully and prayerfully that will be with Gillian in your care.

I'm so sorry this is happening! I just read some of the literature on the Hague Convention and the status of adoptions. It seems like there are some talented, informed people ready to spring into action to support your cause. That's cause for hope! I agree with you - prayer is powerful! I'm reading a great book right now called "Too Busy Not to Pray." I think it would be a great help to you during this process. I'll be praying!
