Family Court

We were notified today that we are officially in Family Court for our adoption of Gillian as of September 17th. Family Court deals with the social aspects of the adoption. Our case will be handled by a judge in Guatemala who will assign a social worker to our case. This social worker will prepare a report, like a home study, after interviewing Gillian's birth mother and meeting with the foster mom and Gillian. If all goes well, the social worker will ask the judge to approve our case so that we can move on to the next step. We will be notified when the interview has been done with the birth mother. It is one of the times when the birth mother has to show up and do her part to make the adoption happen. So please pray that she comes back for the interview and that they can get DNA testing done on the same day! We will feel a lot better when both of these steps are done. I am praying that it is done this week! As soon as this step is done we will go ahead and start planning our visit trip! We are both so excited to see her and hold her for the first time!! Right now we are just looking forward to calling our foster mother again this week and hopefully getting an updated picture!

I love the way God works! I had a similar moment this week. I felt for sure that God had abandoned us on this journey that He led us to. But we prayed specifically for DNA results by the end of the week. Imagine my surprise when that white tube was in my mail box on Friday! We didn't even know that they had been done! We received DNA results just 10 days they were taken. He is amazing! I trust that His good will prevail and He will bring our babies home!
