Now that we have a referral...

Last week Gerald and I did more paperwork, put a one gallon package together, and started getting things ready for the next package to send to Gillian(we get to send one gallon packages with families from our agency that are traveling to visit their babies). We received our POA(power of attorney) back from the Chicago Consulate on Friday and shipped it to our agency today. The POA gives our attorney the power to act on our behalf throughout the adoption. So Gillian is officially on her way to becoming part of the gFamily!

Many people have asked us what happens next, so I thought I would make a list for myself and for others to see. There are many steps that may not make much sense, but just know that as each one gets checked off, we are closer to bringing Gillian home! :)

POA received
DNA Authorization
DNA Testing
DNA Results
Pre-Approval from US Embassy
Submitted to Family Court
Birth Mother Interview Complete
Approved by Family Court
Submitted to PGN
Approved by PGN
Adoption Decree Signed
New Birth Certificate Issued

This is great! Thanks for the timeline. Won't it be fun to see pics from the foster mom of Gillian wearing the clothes you're sending her?? So exciting!

Isn't is amazing how much we can cram in a ziploc bag? My split open and had to be taped! :)

This is just so fun!!
